CLR Plant Hire Ltd, part of the Dunne Group of Companies has recently taken delivery of the first two of five Liebherr excavators to be added to the fleet. The R906 excavators were immediately delivered to the site of the New Southern General Hospital and are now employed on the construction operation.

The R906 machine is a 22 tonne rated excavator with a powerful 143HP engine, which provides excellent production results on site and adds significant power and flexibility to our existing fleet.

Liebherr machines have always been associated with excellence and we are delighted at our first batch of new excavators, which we hope prove to be as successful as our Liebherr cranes which have been part of our fleet for the past five years.

Liebherr UK’s area sales manager, Mike Hanlon shown here with CLR Plant Hire’s Operations Director John McCormack is currently co-ordinating the next delivery of three R906 excavators, due in mid September.

In addition to this, CLR have also taken delivery of four new Volvo FMX380 tippers. Volvo have proved to be a most robust and reliable transport solution for the construction industry and the introduction of the new FMX range is sure to be an instant success for CLR.

The new model offers a redesigned chassis and cab with improved ground clearance and produces 380 horse power from the 12.8 litre (DC13C380) engine with a maximum torque of 1900Nm at 1000 to 1400rpm which enables the tippers to work in all ground conditions.

The nine speed I-Shift automated mechanical gearbox will produce improved fuel consumption with lower (Euro-5 compliant) engine emissions. Bodywork is in the form of a steel medium duty Loadmaster Lite and the Tipping ram is an Edbro CX15. Unladen weight is 12900kgs, so fully fuelled, permits a payload of 19100kgs.

The first four lorries will immediately go to work on the muckshift operations at the New Southern General Hospital site and will be joined by another four Volvo’s in early 2012 as we make a substantial £1Million investment in our transport operations.
